Each of these sections has a defined time limit which varies from section to section. The sections verbal reasoning and quantitative reasoning have multiple-choice questions to attempt.
You need to attempt an essay question in the analytical writing assessment section. Non-MCQs are also there in integrated reasoning sections.
The test does not carry any negative marking. The various universities accepting GMAT scores decide the cut-off marks for the GMAT. Top B-schools ask for a score of 700 or more.
