All of Discord’s 150 million members are being asked to modify their usernames to remove the hashtag and four numbers at the end (the discriminator).
To be consistent with other social media platforms like Twitter, each new username will include a “@” sign. Users will be unable to keep their previous usernames.
According to the Discord blog, the firm is working to fix the issue of difficult usernames. According to co-founder Vishnevshiy, more than 40% of users need to remember or know what their discriminator is. Almost half of all Discord friend requests do not match the desired person.
