Focus is an excellent feature of the iPhone, which lets you focus on a certain task or action using different modes.
For example, their Sleep mode helps eliminate overwhelm by filtering out notifications and phone calls. It also signals the people that you’re unavailable at the moment 📵 and much more.
Why are these modes needed, and how are they helpful?
These modes are super helpful for one obvious reason. That is when you want to accomplish something without being disturbed. It could be an assignment, a family meeting, or just when you do not want anybody bothering you before you hit the bed.
You can use different modes, customize them to your needs, and even set particular timings. So, when you really want to do something and cut down on the distractions on your phone, use one of these modes.

Do Not Disturb
First out of the several modes is the Do Not Disturb mode. It helps you concentrate better on the real world or simply stay out of the overwhelm. You can ideally use it when you’re at busy events or meetings.

The Do Not Disturb mode works by stopping your notifications, messages, and calls from making any sound or vibrating. It also prevents it from lighting up your screen while your phone is locked.

It won’t respond to your touch to turn on the screen, so you have to press the side button when you want to use your phone.
There are several customizations you can do with this mode. First, it lets you schedule your Do Not Disturb mode at a fixed schedule every day. You’re also allowed to limit the mode to specific contacts on your device. This means you can choose for some contacts to still ring through the call while the mode is activated. This is especially helpful when you do not want to miss important calls.
The Work mode on iPhone is helpful when focusing only on work-related areas. You can choose to receive notifications only from important sources, such as your coworkers or your selected few apps.
You can turn it on by going to Settings > Focus > Work and then clicking Next when this page pops up.
From there, you can choose the contacts and apps you wish to include in the Work list. You can also automatically schedule it to be enabled at a fixed time every day.
This is very simple, and you can use it however you like. The Personal mode allows you to silence the whole device apart from notifications from certain people and apps.
You can turn it on by going to Settings > Focus > Personal and then clicking Next when this page pops up.
From there, you can allow/disallow people in your Personal mode list.
We all need good sleep, and oftentimes it’s our phone that stops us from getting it. You can solve this by enabling the Sleep mode on your iPhone.
You can turn it on by going to Settings > Focus > Sleep and toggling the button.
It works by allowing notifications from only certain people and apps you choose during the time the mode is turned on. Obviously, it’ll turn on during your preferred bedtime, but you can also choose to have it enabled slightly earlier to help you wind down before falling asleep.
There are also a few interesting customizations, such as creating shortcuts for preferred apps before sleeping and adding bedtime reminders.
How to share Focus status with people?
When enabling one of these modes, it’s also important to let people know about it so that they’re well-informed that you might not be seeing their message immediately. To share Focus status with people, follow the below simple steps:
Step 1: Go to Settings > Focus and select the mode you wish to turn on.
Step 2: Look for “Focus Status”, tap on it, and make sure it’s turned on.
Now, whenever somebody tries to contact you, they’ll be informed that the specific mode is turned on your device and that your notifications are silenced.
