This Startup Aims to Replace Email with Video in Business Communication

Emovid is a new multimodal video messaging platform that aims to disrupt traditional business communication. In an exclusive conversation with Geekflare, Victor Cho, the company’s founder and CEO, shared his insights about how Emovid is positioning itself not just as another video tool but as a replacement for email in business conversations.
On Bridging Communication Gaps
Today, the majority of startups that rely on hybrid or remote teams face so many challenges if their teammates are from different time zones and speak different languages. According to Cho, Emovid isn’t just about sending video messages. The platform allows users to run multiple video meetings simultaneously without requiring all participants to be present live, which creates this flexible setup and eliminates all those unnecessary meetings all the time.
At the moment, the company is using OpenAI’s models for all translations, transcriptions, and other AI functions. However, the company has plans to launch its own Generative AI model in the future. While Cho didn’t talk much about it, he mentioned that the new engine will help users manage how they appear in videos, giving them more control over their on-screen presence.
On Authenticity and Trust
In today’s AI-driven world, threats like deepfakes and video manipulation are on the rise. It’s quite important to have a secure business communication setup in place, especially if it’s video-centric. So, while discussing security, Cho mentioned its “Authenticity Badge.” To get verified, users must record a live video, which the system then uses to confirm their identity.
However, Cho noted that they will continue to build on this foundation, adding more layers of verification technology over time to stay ahead of threats
On Browser First Approach
Emovid’s desktop app is in development, but according to Cho, It will remain heavily focused on the browser experience, at least for now. “We want to remove friction,” Cho explained. It should be as easy to send a video message as it is to send an email.”
In fact, when asked about competition, Cho made it clear: Emovid’s true competitor isn’t Zoom or Slack; it’s email. The platform is betting on a shift in behaviour, where people prefer sending quick, authentic video messages over long text-based emails.
On Growing Demand and Future Plans
While the company is still in its early stages, Emovid’s website is already attracting between 4,000 to 8,000 visitors monthly, signaling rising interest; apart from that, the company plans to launch plug-ins that allow users to record and send videos from within their current workflows. Future integrations with major CRM tools like Salesforce and HubSpot are also on the roadmap, making Emovid easy to implement inside the existing work environments companies already rely on.
“Our goal is not to disrupt how people work but to make communication more human and accessible inside the tools they already use,” Cho said.
With its focus on accessibility, security, and seamless integration, Emovid is making a clear stake: video will become the default mode of professional communication. Whether users will fully embrace this shift remains to be seen. But for now, with many growing tired of traditional communication methods, Emovid’s fresh approach could be enough to draw initial attention.
