Amazon’s AI Now Generates 2-Minute Videos from Simple Text Prompts

Amazon AI model

Amazon has rolled out its latest version of the text-to-video generation model Nova 1.1. It now allows users to create up to 2-minute multi-shot videos by simply giving text prompts. The model is only available for Amazon Bedrock users in the US East (N. Virginia) region. So, let’s take a closer look at what Amazon’s latest video generation model has to offer.

What’s New in Nova Reel 1.1?

The biggest update with Nova Reel 1.1 is the ability to create multi-shot videos of up to 20 shots, each 6 seconds long. Compared to its predecessor, the Nova Reel 1.0 model, which was launched last year, the Nova Reel 1.1 model brings improvements in video quality and latency for 6-second shots. The latest model also allows you to generate an entire video from a single prompt or define custom prompts for each individual shot.

Two Modes for Different Use Cases

The latest Nova Reel 1.1 comes with two modes:

  • Multishot Automated: This mode allows you to give a single prompt of up to 4,000 characters, and the model generates the video based on that with visual consistency across shots. However, this mode doesn’t support images.
  • Multishot Manual (Storyboard Mode): This mode, on the other hand, allows up to 20 individual prompts (max 512 characters each), one for each shot. It also supports uploading a reference image for each shot. However, the image has to be 1280×720 resolution, provided either in base64 format or from an Amazon S3 bucket.

Designed for Marketing, Product Demos, and More

According to the company, this model is built to help users save time and reduce production costs. This can be a big win for small businesses, as sometimes creating short-form content can increase the marketing/advertising budget by a big margin. This model aims to bring those costs down and simplify the whole process of creating marketing videos, social media content, or product demos.

Getting Started

To try Nova Reel 1.1, you will have to request model access via the Amazon Bedrock console. Once the request is approved, you can start generating videos via console, AWS SDK, or AWS CLI. The completed videos are automatically delivered to the user’s Amazon S3 bucket.

Pricing and Availability

Amazon Nova Reel 1.1 is available in the US East (N. Virginia) region. Like other Amazon Bedrock services, pricing is based on pay-as-you-go usage.
