Claude App Is Getting a New Feature, But It’s Still Hidden

Claude

Anthropic is testing a voice-based search mode on its Claude app, at least on the iOS version. The feature is currently in the development stage and was first spotted by TestingCatalog. It is expected to improve the AI experience, making it more interactive and accessible.

The voice mode is currently under beta update and only supports English, but it does give us three different voice options to choose from: Mellow, Airy, and Buttery. The interface also shows signs of how it could reshape users’ interactions with Claude.

Moreover, since Claude already supports attaching content from the camera, gallery, or files, this new feature will allow uploaded content to appear directly in the voice interface, allowing users to have a spoken conversation with Claude about the images, documents, and potentially other media.

This combination of voice and file-based interaction could make Claude more useful for tasks like summarizing documents, analyzing photos, or responding to complex queries that involve visual context.

Other Developments in the Claude App

Along with the voice mode, Anthropic has added some new features to its Beta list. These include integrations for Gmail and Google Calendar. While these features are still hidden in the app, they are expected to roll out in future updates. Recently, the Google Drive Search appeared on Claude.

Furthermore, the company is also making some changes to the UI of its mobile app. As the text composer has been tweaked slightly. The reasoning function now sits as a separate button. This brings the app in line with Claude’s web interface.

It’s important to keep in mind that Anthropic hasn’t officially announced these features yet. Not everything tested in the Beta version makes it to the final release. Even if a feature does, it still has to go through a lot of testing. So, right now, it’s hard to say when voice mode will be added to the final app. Hopefully, Anthropic won’t take too long since its main competitor, ChatGPT, already offers voice mode in its mobile app.

Furthermore, the future for Anthropic seems bright, as major AI players like OpenAI and Google are teaming up with the company. Just weeks after OpenAI announced it would use Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP) to help connect AI models to data systems, Google recently decided to do the same. Google DeepMind’s CEO shared on X that they’ll add MCP support to their Gemini models and tools, although there’s no set date yet.
