Is Samsung Replacing Google with Perplexity?

Samsung is reportedly working on a way to replace Google on their smartphones. According to a recent report from Bloomberg, the South Korean conglomerate is negotiating a deal with Perplexity. The companies are also discussing having Perplexity’s AI tech power some of Samsung’s own assistant Bixby’s features. What the Samsung & Perplexity Partnership Could Bring

The smartphone giant is said to integrate Perplexity’s AI-powered search features into the Samsung web browser and embed its technology within Bixby, Samsung’s virtual assistant.  

What Could Be the Strategic Impact of This Partnership? 

As of now, Samsung has to rely heavily on Google’s Gemini for all their AI goodies, which the company likes to call the Galaxy AI suite. Now, if Samsung successfully integrates Perplexity on its devices, then the company will be able to diversify its AI offerings and reduce dependence on Google. Something that Apple has been doing with multiple AI providers.  

Interestingly, there are some reports on the internet that suggest that Samsung could replace the Google Gemini with Perplexity as a default AI assistant on its upcoming devices. However, this is still just a rumor, and no details have been confirmed.

Samsung Isn’t the First to Choose Perplexity Over Google

Perplexity has already partnered with Motorola to pre-install its AI assistant on new Razr devices, and Apple has reportedly explored using Perplexity as a search engine option for Safari and as a potential alternative to Google or ChatGPT in Siri.

While the rumors and reports are gaining traction on the internet, it’s worth noting that neither Samsung nor Perplexity has confirmed this partnership rumor.
