Notion Can Now Take Notes, Write Docs, and Find Anything

Notion New AI Features

Notion has announced several AI-powered updates aimed at transforming how teams handle meetings, research, and knowledge search. The company shared a series of posts on its official X (formerly Twitter) handles introducing key updates, like AI Meeting Notes, Enterprise Search, and a Research Mode designed to streamline writing tasks.

Notion’s founder Ivan Zhao described AI Meeting Notes as his “favorite new feature in Notion of late,” highlighting its ability to automatically summarize conversations without relying on intrusive bots. The feature syncs with Notion Calendar but can also be triggered with a simple /meet command on any page.

Here’s a quick rundown of what Notion rolled out:

  • AI Meeting Notes: Automatically transcribes and summarizes meetings with smart templates and the ability to ask follow-up questions. Notably, transcripts vanish after the meeting, which the company says is better for legal compliance.
  • Enterprise Search: This allows users to search across Notion and third-party tools to quickly find relevant information.
  • Research Mode: Drafts full documents using AI, intended to cut down on time spent in the early writing stages.
  • Model Picker: Allows users to switch between GPT-4.1 and Claude 3.7 models for chat and writing assistance.
  • All-in-One Pricing: AI features are now bundled into the Business plan — eliminating the need for a separate AI add-on.

Community Feedback and Clarifications

The rollout also triggered a flurry of questions from users, especially regarding subscription changes. One user, Mike Mason, asked whether upgrading from a Plus + AI plan (paid through August) would result in wasted credit. Notion quickly responded, clarifying that upgrades are prorated:

“When you upgrade to Notion Business, your existing Plus & AI subscription will be prorated—meaning you’ll get a credit for the unused portion of your current plan… You won’t be double-charged,” the company wrote.

Another user, @CSO_Krytos, requested Discord integration for AI Meeting Notes, noting their team splits work between Discord, Notion, and Google Workspace. Notion acknowledged that this was a common request:

“We’re actively exploring ways to bring Notion’s AI Meeting Notes and deeper integrations to more platforms,” they replied, inviting users to share more about their use cases.

So all these updates make one thing clear that Notion wants to position itself as more than just a notes or docs app. The company seems to be aiming to become an all-in-one workspace powered by modern AI models. For example, recently, the company unveiled a feature called ‘Searchable PDFs,’ which makes all the PDFs uploaded to Notion Workspace searchable. Apart from that, the Notion Calendar is now available on Android, joining its iOS counterpart. The calendar supports advanced features like meeting scheduling, integration with multiple Google calendars, and time zone management.
