Perplexity AI Is Now on Windows – But What’s So Special About it?

perplexity

Perplexity AI has unveiled its official Windows app, expanding its accessibility. The company launched the Mac version of the app back in October of last year when Windows users demanded its counterpart, and now it’s finally here. The Windows app will work just like its web version. Still, it will provide a better-integrated experience, using the latest AI models and offering features like voice dictation and keyboard shortcuts.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Voice Dictation and Keyboard Shortcuts: Users can now dictate queries using voice or use shortcuts like Ctrl + I to quickly access the search bar, making it easier to interact with the app.
  • Latest AI Models: The app integrates the latest AI models, ensuring users receive accurate and up-to-date information.

Aravind Srinivas, CEO of Perplexity AI, stated that the Windows app is just the beginning, and the company is working towards building a whole Windows ecosystem. He also mentioned that Windows is a massive market and is mostly covered by Google.

Perplexity’s Future Plans

The company is also expected to be working on a feature called “Quote,” which will allow users to highlight a specific part of the responses and ask follow-up questions. The feature is said to be in the development phase at the moment but is likely to be released soon.

However, the competition for Perplexity is getting intense day by day. Recently, Microsoft announced the availability of DeepSeek R1 7B and 14B distilled models for Copilot+ Pcs; apart from that, the official app of Microsoft Copilot was launched on Mac.
