This Workday Update Can Change How You Work With AI

Workforce

Workday launched its Agent Partner Network and Agent Gateway to integrate AI agents into enterprise workforce management. According to the company, these new offerings will allow organizations to manage a hybrid workforce composed of both human employees and AI agents.

The Workday Agent Partner Network brings together a global ecosystem of partners, including Accenture, Adobe, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Auditoria.AI, Compa, Deloitte, Glean, Google Cloud, IBM, Kainos, KPMG, Microsoft, Paradox, PwC, and WorkBoardAI. These partners will build AI agents designed to connect with Workday’s Agent System of Record (ASOR)

Managing AI Agents Like Employees

As already mentioned, Workday also introduced Agent Gateway, a tool designed to enable customers to connect and manage AI agents from Workday and its partners within the Workday ASOR.

For nearly two decades, Workday has helped organizations manage their people and their money on a unified, secure platform. Now, as AI agents increasingly collaborate with human workforces, customers are looking to Workday to manage everything – people, money, and agents – together on one platform they can trust. That’s why we’re partnering with leading technology organizations to ensure they can do so seamlessly while maintaining enterprise control.

If we go by the shared press releases of the company, the evolving workforce now includes AI agents handling tasks ranging from operational streamlining to supporting decision-making. Workday’s ASOR aims to provide tools for managing these AI agents, similar to how human employees are managed, by allowing businesses to define roles, data access, actions and track performance for agents.

Agent Gateway Connects Third-Party Agents

Workday’s Agent Gateway is designed to simplify the connection of partner AI agents with Workday’s ASOR using shared protocols. It includes Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent-to-Agent Protocol (A2A).

This allows AI agents from different providers to communicate and collaborate in real-time. For example, Workday shared that the Paradox Interview Scheduling agent, when integrated via ASOR, can automate and manage the entire interview coordination process within Workday Recruiting.

Agents Now Available on Workday Marketplace

Workday also announced that some AI agents are already available on the Workday Marketplace, making it easier for customers to browse, purchase, and deploy these solutions. The available agents include:

  • Business Process Optimize Agent
  • Financial Audit Agent
  • Payroll Agent
  • Recruiting Agent
  • Talent Mobility Agent

These agents are powered by Workday Illuminate, the company’s latest AI framework. Illuminate uses over a trillion annual transactions from HR and finance data to provide deep business context and allow faster, more informed decision-making.
