Why Salesforce Is Integrating Slack with Its CRM?

Slack (1)

Salesforce has integrated Slack directly into its CRM platform. It brings Slack’s conversational interface into Salesforce’s data-driven environment, creating a one-stop solution where teams and AI agents can access records, make decisions, and collaborate in real time.

The company is introducing “Salesforce Channels,” a new type of Slack channel that links directly to CRM records like Accounts and Opportunities. The biggest advantage of these bi-directional channels is that it allows sales, service, and marketing teams to stay aligned without constantly switching apps or chasing updates.

Moreover, Agentforce, Salesforce’s AI engine, can now access these conversations (where permitted), provide summaries, suggest next steps, and even take actions. This move positions Slack as more than just a messaging app; it becomes what Salesforce calls the “operating system for work,” enabling both human and AI teammates to stay in sync.

Tableau Next in Slack Arrives June 13

Along with the Slack integration, Salesforce is also bringing Tableau Next, its analytics platform, directly into Slack. Starting June 13, users will be able to embed live dashboards, share visualizations, and interact with AI-powered insights without leaving a conversation thread. It will also support natural language queries via Agentforce, allowing users to ask questions like “What’s the latest pipeline status?” and receive real-time, context-aware answers.

Why Does It Matter?

According to Salesforce, nearly half of workers struggle to find the information they need, and misalignment across departments, such as sales and marketing, costs U.S. businesses over $1 trillion annually. However, the new Slack-Salesforce integration is designed to address these gaps not by adding more tools but by connecting existing ones.

Salesforce channels fundamentally change how customers unify their structured and unstructured data, giving them the power of Slack collaboration right inside the Salesforce user experience. With Salesforce channels, we’re breaking down barriers between customer data and teamwork, setting a foundation for powerful collaboration with digital labor, and strengthening Slack’s role as the conversational interface for Salesforce’s deeply unified platform.
