OpenAI has upgraded its search feature in ChatGPT, making it more intelligent, accurate, and responsive to complex queries. The updated search experience is now live for all ChatGPT users, and it claims to deliver more up-to-date and context-aware responses. According to the shared release note, ChatGPT will now have the following:

  • Improved handling of longer conversations, with reduced repetition and better instruction-following.
  • The system can now automatically run multiple searches to break down complex questions and provide layered answers.
  • Users can now search the web using images, which adds another layer of interactivity. 

Still Not Perfect, But Getting There 

It’s not as if everything is perfect with ChatGPT’s search feature. The company itself has listed some of its limitations. According to OpenAI, users may experience slightly longer responses, and occasionally, the model may generate “chain of thought” answers, even for simple queries. However, the fix for this problem has already been rolled out. Apart from that, it still advises users to double-check responses, as the model may occasionally make mistakes.

Not only Search but the Projects feature on ChatGPT has also received an update. It now allows us to manage long-term workflows. It acts as a smart workspace where you can group chat, upload reference files, and apply tailored instructions. To make this feature even more attractive, the company has added deeper integrations, more tools, and mobile improvements.
