One of the frequently searched question on Geekflare is “how much does google meet cost”. And, I get it as it can be confusing to many, and I’ll explain to you about it.
Google Meet is free with some limitation and available under two main products.
- Google One – for personal use
- Google Workspace – for business use
All you need is a Google account, and you can start using Google Meet by accessing https://meet.google.com/ and then choosing an option to start an instant meeting or schedule for later.

For personal usage, the free version should be sufficient, but if you need to run long conference and record meetings, you should go for premium plans.
This is where many people get confused about Google Meet pricing. Let me clarify – Google Meet doesn’t have its standalone pricing plan. It is bundled in either Google Workspace or Google One subscription.
First, let me explain the Google Workspace pricing and what Meet premium features you get on which plan. Google Workspace has 4 pricing plans, starting at $7/user/month.
Google Meet Pricing Comparison
I’ve compared all the 4 pricing plan including Meet features.
Business Starter | Business Standard | Business Plus | Enterprise
$7 | $14 | $22 | Custom | |
$8.40 | $16.80 | $26.40 | Custom
100 | 150 | 500 | 1000 | |
24 hours | 24 hours | 24 hours | 24 hours
You save 20% when you go for an annual subscription.
Note: On February 28, 2024, Google increased Workspace pricing by 16.67% for the Starter and Standard plans, and by 22.22% for the Plus plan. Previously, the annual plan pricing was $6/month for Starter, $12/month for Standard, and $18/month for Plus.
One benefit of this price increase is that Gemini AI is now integrated into Workspace, whereas it was previously an add-on. In a way, it’s actually cheaper now since you no longer need to pay $20/month separately for AI.
Which plan should you choose?
- If you are a startup or small business with up to 25 team members and just need basic video conferencing → I would recommend Business Starter plan.
- If you are an established business or growing startups and need to record meetings, better noise cancellation, appointment booking page → I recommend Business Standard plan.
- If you are a global medium business with requirement of having up to 500 participants, track attendance, better support → I recommend Business Plus plan.
We at Geekflare use Business Starter plan and happy with it. Below is the screenshot of Google Meet app settings from Google Workspace Admin console.

Google Meet premium features are available in Google One Premium (2 TB) plan. It includes Google Workspace premium features and cost $9.99/month or $99.99/year.
Google One premium features for Google Meet:
- Noise cancellation
- Call recording
- Appointment scheduling page
- Video streaming to YouTube
- 24 hours max call duration
- Max 100 meeting participants
I recommend Google One premium for premium Meet features if you are a creator, influencer, or solopreneur. It makes perfectly sense.
Google Meet vs. Competitors: A Pricing Comparison
Microsoft Teams is the closest competitor of Google Meet. Microsoft Teams is part of Microsoft 365 and pricing starts from $6/month when paid yearly.
Sounds cheaper than Google Workspace?
Well, yes and no.
Yes, Microsoft 365 Business Basic is cheaper than Google Workspace Business Starter plan, but it doesn’t include Copilot (equal to Gemini AI).
No, because Copilot for business is an add-on and costs $37.50/month and if you combine both pricing, it is expensive.
So the question to you is – do you require AI features? If yes, Google Workspace is a no-brainer!
Any other competitor just for online meeting?
Glad you asked!
Zoho Meeting is great alternative if you just require meeting software. The pricing starts from $1/month on annual plan.
Google Meet Hardware
Google Meet Hardware is called Series One and works best with Google Meet, suitable for office video conferencing. It costs ~$2000 and integrates with leading whiteboarding like LucidSpark and Miro.

What do I wish Google Meet to offer?
Transcription and meeting summarization is something I wish Google Meet offer soon. Currently, I need to use other meeting note taking apps like MeetGeek which is additional expense. Google product manager, if you are reading this, you should seriously consider this.
