Jira’s New Options for Mapping Issue Types and Hierarchies

Jira, the popular project management software, has launched an update that gives more control over how issue types are mapped while importing data from external sources. The new feature allows users to assign specific issue types—such as Epic, Task, Story, Bug, or Subtask—during the import process. This eliminates the earlier limitation where all imported issues were defaulted to the “Task” type.

The update makes it easier to manage parent-child relationships while importing data. Users can now add columns in their CSV files to define these connections, like “Issue ID” and “Parent.” This helps keep the data’s original structure, which is helpful for large projects.

OpenProject 15.2: New reminders and PDF timesheets

OpenProject unveiled its 15.2.0 update, which rolled out several new features to enhance project management and collaboration. One of the key updates includes Work package reminders, which allow users to receive reminders about specific work packages at a later point in time. Additionally, Exporting timesheets as PDF is now possible, allowing users to export time reports in a PDF format.

Other updates include adding a lag to Predecessor/Successor relations, which allows users to specify a minimum number of working days between two work packages. Users can also group and order by custom fields of a type hierarchy, making sorting and organizing work packages easier.

Smartsheet Acquired by Blackstone, Vista

Smartsheet, a leading work management platform, has been acquired by Blackstone and Vista Equity Partners in a deal worth approximately $8.4 billion. According to the report with this acquisition, Smartsheet will now invest in expanding its collaborative work management solutions and deliver exceptional products and experiences for its customers and partners.

As a result of the acquisition, Smartsheet’s stock has ceased trading on the New York Stock Exchange. However, existing stockholders will receive $56.50 in cash for each share they owned prior to the closing.
