An affiliate program lets bloggers, creators, publishers, and other partners promote your product in exchange for a commission on the sales they bring in. You only pay when they deliver, which is why it’s one of the most cost-effective growth channels for SaaS companies.
You can do it manually but it is time consuming and doesn’t scale well. You need links to track cookies and coupon codes, commissions that adjust when a customer upgrades or refunds, payouts in a dozen currencies, tax forms, and fraud protection.
That’s what affiliate marketing software handles.
This list focuses on software for running your own program. I’ve also written a section on affiliate networks for when you’d rather tap into an existing pool of publishers.
Affiliate Program vs. Referral Program
The two get mixed up, but they reach different people.
An affiliate program pays partners a commission.
A referral program rewards your existing customers for inviting friends, typically with discounts, credit, or gift cards for both sides.
Many businesses eventually run both, and several tools below handle both from one dashboard. If customer referrals are your main goal, see our guide to the best referral program software.
How Affiliate Software Pricing Works
Starting prices don’t compare well, because vendors charge in four different ways, and the cheapest model changes as your program grows:
| Pricing model | How it works | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Tiered by affiliate revenue | A flat monthly fee that rises as affiliate-driven revenue crosses thresholds | Rewardful, FirstPromoter, Tolt |
| Flat fee plus percentage | A monthly fee plus a cut of affiliate-driven sales | Refersion, UpPromote, impact.com Starter |
| Usage-based | Priced by clicks, conversions, or tracking requests | Tapfiliate, Post Affiliate Pro |
| Flat license | A yearly license with no transaction fees | AffiliateWP |
| Custom quote | Priced to program size, usually with a contract | PartnerStack, Everflow |
A percentage fee is cheap while your program is small and expensive once it takes off. Before you choose, estimate your affiliate revenue a year from now and price each option at that level.

It now also offers an MCP connector so you can query partner data from Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor.
Standout features:

An affiliate app for Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, and Wix with a free Hobby plan and paid plans from $49 a month.
When You Want Ready-Made Partners
Affiliate software gives you the tools, but you still have to recruit partners. Affiliate networks work the other way around. You join an existing marketplace of publishers and creators who are already looking for programs. Many brands use both.
Awin is one of the largest networks, with more than 1 million partners and 30,000 brands. It now includes ShareASale, which is fully part of Awin, so new brands launch directly on Awin. Its Access plan costs $49 a month after a free first month, with a three-month minimum.
CJ (formerly Commission Junction) is one of the most established networks, reporting more than $16 billion in yearly revenue and 157 million transactions for its advertisers.
Rakuten Advertising is a long-running global network that announced an alliance with impact.com in April 2026, combining impact.com’s platform with Rakuten’s managed program services.
ClickBank works differently: it acts as the merchant of record for digital and physical products and connects them with about 100,000 active affiliates. It has paid out more than $7.3 billion in commissions.
Basics of Running an Affiliate Program
A few decisions shape every program, whichever software you pick.
→ Most programs pay a percentage of each sale or a flat amount per signup. SaaS companies often pay recurring commissions for as long as the customer stays, which attracts partners who are willing to create lasting content.
→ Decide how long after a click an affiliate still gets credit (30 to 90 days is common) and whether coupon codes count, since many sales from creators now happen through codes rather than links.
→ Set a minimum payout, a schedule, and a hold period that covers your refund window, so you aren’t paying commissions on sales that get reversed.
→ Block self-referrals and watch for unusual spikes in clicks or signups. Most tools above include basic fraud detection, and some score every conversion.
Start small with a few partners who already know your product, then expand once your tracking and payouts run smoothly.
