Most rank tracking reviews compare feature lists. I went further and tracked real keywords to verify the position accuracy.
I tracked zapier.com for 15 software keywords in Chicago, on desktop and mobile, in SE Ranking, Nightwatch, and Wincher for three days in October 2026. Every time I read a tool’s numbers, I pulled the live Google results for the same keyword, city, and device through the Geekflare SERP API and compared.
The results were uneven than I expected. One tool matched Google on desktop almost every time and then fell apart on mobile. Another reported Zapier missing from the top 30 for keywords where it sits at #1. The details are below, followed by the ten trackers with current pricing.
What My Accuracy Test Found

Google results move a little even within an hour. Two API checks of the same keyword 40+50 minutes apart sometimes differed by a few spots, so I counted a tool’s position as accurate when it landed within one place of the range I saw that day. A position missing entirely (“not in top 30” or “no ranking URL”) counted as a miss.
SE Ranking was nearly perfect on desktop
On desktop, SE Ranking matched Google on all 15 keywords on all 3 days.
Mobile was a different though. For “seo tools”, our API had Zapier at #1 on mobile. SE Ranking said #11. As you can see below screenshot, Zapier really was 11th on the page SE Ranking fetched.

SE Ranking showed a banner that day saying Google’s recent spam updates had affected the accuracy of some rank checks and that corrected data would follow.
Nightwatch leaned optimistic
Nightwatch showed 73% on desktop and 60% on mobile. Almost every one put Zapier higher than Google did. For “project management software” it showed #2 on day 2 and #1 on day 3, on both devices, while our API saw #4 every time.
For “customer service software” on desktop, Nightwatch reported Zapier as not ranking.
Wincher slightly different
On the first day it reported nine of the 15 keywords as outside the top 30 on desktop, including “seo tools” and “social media management tools”, where Zapier ranks in the top 2.

Its SERP audit for “best crm software” in Chicago listed zendesk.kr and ringover.co.uk on page one, which suggests the check ran with the wrong location.
About this test
Three days, one domain, and 15 keywords is a small sample. Treat these numbers as a spot check.
Rank Tracking Software Comparison
Every tracker counts usage differently, so look beyond the starting price. Track 100 keywords in three cities on desktop and mobile, and you’re using 600 keyword slots.

Best Rank Tracking Software
01. SE Ranking
All-in-one rank trackerBest value for daily desktop tracking at volume
SE Ranking gives you the most daily keywords for the money. The Core plan tracks 2,000 keywords every day in Google’s top 100, which is four times what Semrush’s entry plan includes.
It was also the accurate desktop tracker in my test. If your reporting is mostly desktop, or you mainly care about the trend, it’s the one I’d start with.
AI tracking is part of the plan now. Core includes 100 AI prompts a day across five LLMs, and an AI Search add-on adds 200 more prompts covering AI Overviews, AI Mode, Perplexity, and ChatGPT.

Worth knowing before you buy:
- Core includes one manager seat and keeps six months of history.
- Only one active session is allowed per login at a time.
- Payments are non-refundable, so use the trial to decide.
Pricing
- Core costs $129 a month for 2,000 daily keywords.
- Growth is $279 a month ($223.20 yearly) for 5,000.
- The AI Search add-on is $89 a month ($71.20 yearly).
- Extra seats start at $16.
02. Nightwatch
Local and AI search trackingAgencies tracking many locations and AI answers
Nightwatch tracks in more than 107,000 locations across 190+ countries, which makes it a strong fit for local businesses and agencies managing clients in different cities.
Its AI tracking is broader than most. Every plan monitors ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, AI Mode, and AI Overviews, with 50 prompts on Starter. Full results pages are archived for three years, which helps when a client asks what changed six months ago.
In my test it was accurate tracking tool on mobile.

Worth knowing before you buy:
- The 500-keyword Starter plan fills up fast once you add a second device or city.
- API access starts on Professional.
Pricing
- Starter is €79 a month billed yearly (€948 a year) for 500 keywords.
- Professional is €159 a month billed yearly for 2,500.
- Agency €399 for 7,500.
03. Semrush
All-in-one SEO suiteTeams that want rank tracking inside a full SEO toolkit
If your team already does keyword research, audits, and competitor analysis in Semrush, its Position Tracking tool is the obvious choice. Everything then in one place, and AI Visibility tracking covers Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini.
Look closely at the plans before buying. The $139 SEO plan tracks 500 keywords a day, and multi-location and multi-device tracking only appear on Pro+ at $299 a month. If you are tracking more than one city or both devices, you would need Pro+ plan.

Worth knowing before you buy:
- API access is only on Advanced plan.
- Extra users is expensive than Ahrefs and SE Ranking.
Pricing
- SEO costs $139 a month ($117.33 billed yearly) for 500 daily keywords.
- Pro+ is $299 ($248.17 yearly) for 1,500 keywords.
- Advanced is $549 ($455.67 yearly) for 5,000 keywords.
A free plan allows 10 reports a day.
04. Advanced Web Ranking
Large-scale rank trackingAgencies tracking thousands of keywords across engines
Advanced Web Ranking is honest about what a keyword costs. One unit is one weekly check for one search engine and one device, 50 results deep. Daily tracking uses seven units per keyword, and each extra device or location multiplies it again.
That means the Pro plan’s 7,000 units cover about 1,000 keywords checked daily, which is not bad for $139. Local and mobile rankings, full SERP feature analysis, and AI visibility and citation tracking are all on Pro. Every plan includes unlimited users and projects.

Worth knowing before you buy:
- Keywords beyond your limit aren’t fetched.
- Tracking the top 100 instead of the top 50 doubles the units.
- API access starts on Agency plan.
Pricing
Pro is $139 a month for 7,000 keyword units, Agency $279 for 14,500, and Enterprise $699 for 35,500.
Paying yearly saves 10%.
05. AccuRanker
Fast tracking and raw dataTeams that need speed, unlimited users, and data exports
AccuRanker, as the name suggests is pure a rank tracker, and it’s priced like a premium one. What you get for that is daily updates, unlimited users on every plan, and API access at the higher tiers.
The Expert plan adds an unlimited read API and Looker Studio. Enterprise goes further with a write API, BigQuery export, and raw SERP HTML. If you feed rankings into your own dashboards or data warehouse, this is a good reason to pick it.
I would suggest AccuRanker to agencies or multi-location businesses.

Worth knowing before you buy:
- If you cancel, your data stays in the account but you can’t open it until you resubscribe.
Pricing
- Professional starts at $224 a month for 2,000 keywords.
- Expert at $764 for 10,000 keywords.
06. Ahrefs
SEO suite with weekly trackingAhrefs users who check rankings weekly
Ahrefs’ Rank Tracker is fine if you already pay for Ahrefs for backlinks and research. On its own, it’s hard to recommend for close monitoring, because the pricing page lists weekly updates on every plan.
Weekly is enough for many content teams watching long-term trends. It isn’t enough for an agency that needs to explain a drop to the clients. API and MCP access come with every plan, and Brand Radar tracks AI prompts daily.

Worth knowing before you buy:
- Ahrefs doesn’t issue refunds and doesn’t run discounts.
- One user is included. Extra users cost $20 to $80 a month each.
Pricing
Lite is $129 a month for 750 tracked keywords, Standard $249 for 2,000, and Advanced $449 for 5,000.
Enterprise starts at $1,499 a month with an annual commitment.
07. SEO PowerSuite
Desktop rank tracking softwareBudget-minded users who want unlimited keywords
Rank Tracker breaks the typical SaaS pricing model. It’s desktop software for Windows, Mac, and Linux, and paid licenses come with unlimited keywords and unlimited locations.
For the 600-check job I priced below, it costs $179 a year. Nothing else comes close. It also tracks SERP features like featured snippets, ads, and image packs, and every tier, including free, tracks AI Overviews.

Worth knowing before you buy:
- It runs on your computer, so scheduled checks need the app running on a machine you leave on.
- Client reports and scheduled exports need the Enterprise license ($419 a year).
- Billing is yearly only.
Pricing
The free version checks rankings with limits. Professional costs $179 a year for in-house use and Enterprise $419 a year for client work.
The full SEO PowerSuite bundle starts at $349 a year.
08. AgencyAnalytics
Agency reporting platformAgencies that want rankings inside client dashboards
AgencyAnalytics is a reporting tool first. Rank tracking is an add-on that feeds client dashboards alongside ads, social, and analytics data, so it makes sense if you’re already sending clients monthly reports.
It tracks desktop, mobile, local, and international rankings, and an AI Tracker add-on watches client visibility in AI search.
Pricing
Core costs $20 per client a month. The Rank Tracker add-on is $41.67 a month per 500 keywords, and the AI Tracker add-on $20.83 a month per 250 credits.
09. Wincher
Simple daily rank trackerSmall sites that want an easy, low-cost tracker
Wincher’ setup takes minutes, the dashboard is clean, and the Basic plan includes daily updates, SERP features, device tracking, and exports for €49 a month.
I had the average accuracy of the three tools I tested, with keywords dropping out of the top 30 and evidence of results pulled from the wrong country. If you only track one country, your experience may be better, but I’d verify a few positions manually during the trial.

Worth knowing before you buy:
- On-demand updates, API access, and multiple users start on Standard (€89).
- Google Maps tracking updates weekly.
Pricing
- Basic is €49 a month for 500 keywords and up to 10 websites.
- Standard is €89 a month from 1,000 keywords.
- Professional €319 from 5,000.
10. SERPWatcher
Beginner-friendly SEO bundleBeginners and freelancers who check rankings weekly
Mangools bundles SERPWatcher with KWFinder and its other tools, which makes it a friendly starting point if you’re new to SEO. Every plan now includes AI Search Watcher PRO, with 500 monitored prompts across OpenAI, Google AI Overviews, Claude, and five more LLMs.
The limitation is frequency.
Basic and Premium update rankings weekly. You need the Agency plan for daily tracking.

Pricing
- Basic is $37.70 a month billed yearly for 200 keywords.
- Premium $52.70 for 700 keywords.
- Agency $97.70 for 1,500 daily keywords.
Other Rank Trackers Worth a Look
Daily top-100 tracking from $99 a month for 1,000 terms, with local, mobile, Google Maps, AI Overviews, AI Mode, and LLM tracking. One keyword, URL, location, and device counts as one term.
The cheapest daily option I found: each bot costs $4.99 a month and checks 75 keywords every 24 hours.
Disclosure: this is our product. If you’re comfortable with a spreadsheet, our template will help you to track rankings by city and device in Google Sheets using the Geekflare SERP API.
What 600 Daily Checks Actually Cost
To compare like for like, I priced one realistic job on every tool. 100 keywords, tracked in three cities, on desktop and mobile, updated daily which is 600 keyword a day.
| Tool | Cheapest plan that fits | Price |
|---|---|---|
| SEO PowerSuite Rank Tracker | Professional (unlimited keywords) | $179/year |
| SerpRobot | 8 bots | $39.92/month |
| ProRankTracker | Starter (1,000 terms) | $99/month |
| Mangools | Agency (1,500 daily keywords) | $97.70/month |
| AgencyAnalytics | 1 client + 2 keyword blocks | $103.34/month |
| SE Ranking | Core (2,000 keywords) | $129/month |
| Wincher | Standard (1,000 keywords) | €89/month |
| Advanced Web Ranking | Pro (4,200 of 7,000 units) | $139/month |
| Nightwatch | Professional (2,500 keywords) | €159/month |
| AccuRanker | Professional (2,000 keywords) | $224/month |
| Semrush | Pro+ (1,500 keywords, multi-location) | $299/month |
| Ahrefs | None (weekly updates only) | n/a |
Picking One
For most teams I’d start with SE Ranking. It was the most accurate on desktop in my test and gives you 2,000 daily keywords for $129.
Agencies with clients in many cities, or anyone who wants AI answers tracked alongside rankings, should try Nightwatch. Teams already living in Semrush or Ahrefs can stay put.
On a tight budget, SEO PowerSuite Rank Tracker is almost free for unlimited keywords if you don’t mind desktop software. And if you need thousands of keywords, Advanced Web Ranking is worth the look.
Whatever you choose, use the trial to spot-check a handful of keywords yourself. My test was small, but it showed that two trackers looking at the same keyword in the same city can disagree. For background on what moves positions between checks, see our study on tracking keyword rankings accurately and our guide to SERP features.
